But don't worry, as I've said, we're not perfect and we're always ready to learn! 😸

No one who loves their cat will declaw them. If you think you need to declaw a cat you need to never own a cat again.

This 61 year old man was all choked up watching this. My beautuful Baby Girl, the best cat I've ever had, died at just 11 years old. I did SEVRRAL of these things and didn't realize it was harming her. She was alone a LOT and I didn't give her any stimulation. I gave her a ton of affection but I didn't play with her nearly as often as I could have. I knew she had very bad teeth but i thought the only option was having her teeth cleaned which was like $2500. The vet never told me about these treats, although I didn't take her in for wellness visits either. CRINGE. . She gnawed on everything she COULD....NO doubt in a lot of pain. Also, I had a pathos plant, just like the one shown. She almost died when she was 9. I later found she had chewed one of the leaves so I threw it in the garbage. They told me it was likely pancreatitis but I really think she got poisoned because she would eat plastic or anything that wasn't nailed down that would fit, including plastic. . I used scented litter and didn't clean it enough. I used to spray her with water when she clawed the furniture. She did have a large scratching post but only one. I look at those claw marks now and I don't want to get rid of the furniture BECAUSE of the clawing. She could have lived many years longer had I not been so neglectful. I know I didn't know some of this bit I could have educated myself. I could go on. She died on 12/26/2022 and I think about her Every day. I cringe at how I treated her, especially now. I'm glad I saw this for when I eventually get another. Let me tell you, the next one will be living in nirvana. In fact, I plan to get two so they have company while I'm working. At least I got to spend a lot of time with her during the pandemic because I worked from home for 2 years. I gave her a ton of love but not what she really needed It live a longer healthy life. Crying now. Thank you for this video.

I am an amputee and suffer from Phantom Limb pain. It occurs when a bony part of the body is removed. I had a cat that had been declawed and he suffered, I think from this horrible pain. DO NOT DECLAW ANY ANIMAL YOU LOVE (OR ANY ANIMAL YOU DON'T LOVE).

My cat is mostly indoors but likes a little wander most, for long and stays around. I live in the UK so no wild animals. . If she didn't go outside she would be depressed and cry and l would rather see a happy puss. My other girl was the same and lived almost 21 years.❤

Also: chocolate. And poisonous houseplants. And loud noises.

My baby was declawed by a previous owner. I wish I knew what her personality was before to see how it changed her. I don't know why she was in a shelter. But I've never bonded with an animal as strongly as I have with her. She is very dependent on me. So vulnerable.

I have 5 rescues cats that are 17, unknown, and almost 6 years old. 3 are sisters, a feral turned domestic and my grandmas cat she no longer can care for.
I have always adopted or rescued kittys. I also have volunteered at cat shelters and homes. I love it. They are God’s angels. I love this channel. Thank you for all you provide for us!😽

My cat is 20, and she's an indoor cat, she only came to me five years ago, my brother in law passed and my niece has dogs, so she came to me. I had (no fault eviction) to move just over a year ago, and I had to take the first place offered to me (I live in the UK) by the local council, it's a flat and animals aren't allowed, so I spoke to my local councillor, he visited my old flat and then spoke to my housing officer and he, the councillor (now my hero) told my housing officer that nobody would know that there was a cat in the property, unless she actually came in to the room we were in, so she was allowed to come with me, you can imagine my relief! She still grooms herself and uses the litter, she certainly doesn't look her age!
I learn quite a lot from watching your videos, thank you. ❤

Declawing should be counted as animal cruelty! If furnishing is more important to you, and you cant be arsed to look for a humane solution, dont have a cat.

Good advice, but I would add that your litter box should be as large as possible and scooped after each use. Mine is a 40 gallon tote with an entrance cut in and the cover keeps the dust down. Great video for new or prospective cat parents! I've had cats for over 60 years and will have one till they put me down. 🥰😺

I adopted two bonded angels that nobody wanted who had both been declawed and everyday it breaks my heart thinking about the pain and confusion they feel at being cruelly denied them a natural vital part of their very existence

I found my cat in a bin about 4 years ago, poor baby. I live on a narrowboat so he gets walks on his lead. He doesn’t really mind that. The advice was really good, it has spurred me to get his dental hygiene better. Thank you.

I am so happy to see a video that address real issues. I have worked with cats for years and many people just don't get it. Even many of those who have had cats all their lives still don't get it. There is just so much to learn. Don't get me wrong, I have done the wrong things as well but working with them day in & out you learn a lot.

I just got the water spring for my cat.
She was having cramp issues, I asked a professional and they said lack of lactose.
I got milk drops made of goat milk, never give your cat milk from cows. It helped, no more issues and cramps.
The tooth issue is same with humans, the bacteria in your mouth can enter your blood system

I put chicken wire on the top of my 6foot fence so they cant get out and other cats cant get in. Its awesome. They LOVE OUTSIDE, more so knowing they are the only ones they have to deal with. The chicken wire stops the climb as it folds back on em so they cant get over it. I also put it on the trees about 7 feet up so they cant climb over it. :)

Thank you so much for all of these helpful and humane tips. However- you mention the toxicity of essential oils, but not- the IMMENSE toxicity of chemical/synthetic room deodorizers, 'air fresheners', 'plug in s', synthetic candle perfumes, dangerously toxic chemical products such as 'Febreze', Lysol, dryer sheets, and the like....These products should be at the top of anyone's list of dangers- to not only cats, but dogs, as well~ Thanks!
