As I recall from many years ago (when I was an apprentice working on MGBs and all other BMC or BLMC cars) we used to set the float height in the carbs, using a 3/16"(4.7mm) drill. We used brake fluid to clean the dashpots and pistons and a light oil such as 3 in 1 for the piston damper. The basic setting for mixture was 2 full turns (12 flats) from the highest position for the main jet nut.

Good day, sir, from Oregon, USA. My wife, a Kiwi, grew up with MGBs and wanted one of her own. She found one in Kirkland, Washington. It is a 1970 B GT and orangey-yellow. It's a fun car to drive, but it needs work. I am happy to find your videos quite useful. Thanks. I forgot to mention, this B GT does not have SKinner's Union Carbs. Someone added weber carbs to it.

On a side note, I also had a '76 Honda CB750 SS I bought from my uncle in Wyoming. I fixed it up with a desert tan sand finish and sold it to an Air Force helicopter pilot I knew. I worked on the UH-1(N) models in Montana. It was a fun bike to fix and ride. It was way loud since I had no muffler.

Hey Peter, check that the dashpot's piston moves up and down properly witht he dashpot plunger in, Ive found that sometimes the plunger causes the dashpots piston to hang up and then you end up with weird problems like not starting haha

Yes I did covert your A60 Wagon but, oh well, can't be helped. Work on my A60 is progressing steadily. I am also a believer in good old Permatex, I was introduced to it in the 90's when I had my Morris 1500 and used it on everything, except I used to make a lot of gaskets out Weeties packet cardboard. It worked well! The more you explore SU's the simpler they become. Loving the engine dressing too. All the best Pauline

Hello Peter. Thanks for this latest instalment. I always look forward to your videos. It's like being round a mates garage . . but you make more progress than me and my mates do!

a few decades ago i had an Austin A60 and it had a pair of engine lifting things on the rocker cover bolts.I guess they wouldn't fit under the bonnet of a MGB so they fitted spacers instead. ...may be.

Shaking paint is only for mixing paints together. Not pre-usage.

Have you ever used soda blasting?
I use a spot blaster with Bicarbonate soda in it instead of sand or other media.
Works great on cleaning alloy parts

Right, so if I ever hear someone form Australia say "Mate, She'll be right" I'll keep that in mind and will know to panic just a little bit! LOL : )

You can get a workshop manual from SU for their carbs. It's about £10 and worth every penny. Got to sucarb.co.uk

Exactly what tea is that? I went to Lipton's website but they had several that look like they might have that same label.

if your dog passed a turd that colour you'd have to take him to the vet pretty pronto.
