1: there is a limit to the amount of tint your window can have before being illegal
2: bc of the tint and the way you parked, it may have looked as if you were selling narcotics, giving the officer to have legal authority to search your vehicle

police officers are allowed to search your cars without permission if they have probable cause, at least in my state, i learned that the hard way.

By the way I want to say that it is illegal to have your front windows tinted so that’s also probably why

Tinting driver side windows is illegal in some states, but you can tint passenger side windows how ever you want

First of all I would like to know why you left your BMW unlocked. If your car was actually logged officer would not have been able to open the door. Without breaking the law and breaking into your car himself. That's why you always lock your vehicle doors. There are cops that do that they called dirty cops. Always lock your vehicle.
