The Sultan Who Trained with a 225lb Kettlebell

When the strongest king’s army stormed Baghdad, he did kettlebell swings with his custom 225 pound kettlebell while his men looted the conquered city.

That same kettlebell accompanied him everywhere, and he used it to perform swings and suitcase carries around his army’s camps during wars.

In times of peace, he could be seen using it to perform Turkish Get Ups in the palace in Constantinople.

His name was Murad the 4th, a controversial 17th century Ottoman Sultan.

He was one of the strongest kings in history - and his custom kettlebell is still displayed today in Istanbul.

If you want to learn all about how warriors like him trained throughout history, I invite you to check out my book on Amazon:

I remember some historian claiming that Murad literally choked an assassin coming to kill him with his bare hands while he was sleeping and casually continued to sleep. Experts say he mastered physical fitness because he was paranoid.

I love KBs. I have a 88lbs which feels beefy. You'd have to be a beast of a man to swing 225lbs.

Most searches on the net yield that this was fubar. Kinda like King Arthur’s sword in the stone. Just a legend. Murad allegedly suffered from cirrhosis and died from it at 27. That’s not a disease that you catch over night and oops “I’m dead”!

This is a super interesting one. I hadn’t heard of it until recently. The guy himself was pretty murderous, but apparently very good with a kettlebell. What do you guys think?

King Og of Bashan is described as being an enormous man, and as “the last of the Rephaites, ” who seem to be a race of giants.King Og of Bashan was the last survivor of the giant Rephaites. His bed was made of iron and was more than thirteen feet long and six feet wide and is recorded as being on display. His feats of strength were said to be legend like getting under & lifting a battle horse... 4 legged kettle bell?

He had a mace that weighed around 70-80kgs. He smashed the heads of traitors with it.
His ring is nearly around the same size as my wrists.
Dude was a fucking tank.
