I used to run a care home. We had a couple who had been each other's first love. They were separated by her parents moving out of the country. They met again in our care home, both in their mid 80's, and fell in love again. It was a beautiful thing to see. They had three beautiful years together before the man passed away. She followed him soon after. Old people feel things deeply. Their gentle caring for each other's needs and joyous laughter was wonderful to observe.

Such a lovely story. His mind may have forgotten who she was, but his heart never forgot the love they shared.

A much deeper story told in 12 min than Hollywood can do in 2 1/2 hours!

Just lovely. My dear late father had dementia and was in care. On one of my mother's visits he held her hand and asked her: "Are you my wife?" and when she replied that she was, he beamed the most beautiful smile and said: "I'm glad. You're very pretty."

I loved the way the two elderly gentlemen kept the whole concept together every day

My husband ask me to marry him the second day after we met! I said yes, three days later! We celebrate our 40th anniversary next month. ❤

This was an absolute masterpiece. Having him drop the bowl the second time was a brilliant move. Everything about this film was perfect.

Wouldn't it be grand if everyone's loved ones could spend their declining years in such comfortable surroundings

Beautiful. When Ruth opened the photo album and I realized who Arthur really was, it felt like someone squeezed my heart.❤

Such a powerful and poignant film. Eloquent performances by both actors. My husband died 9 1/2 years ago at the young age of 50. I thought we would grow old together, but that was not to be. Soon after his death, I had this vivid dream that he really hadn't died, he had just been away and we ran into each other's arms, like you see in the movies. Our love ran deep, even though we had only been together 12 years. We were best friends. I longed for him so much and could not grasp that he was physically not with me anymore. If we had grow old together, I know we would have taken care of one another, hand in hand, heart to heart. Even if we could not rememer the other's face, our love would remember. I remember Scott. I remember. Thank you for being mine. 😘

I had to get to the end of the movie to realize the significance of her introducing herself simply as Ruth. This one tugs at the heartstrings. After the movie was over, I was thinking about it and remembered when Arthur asked her about her husband, she said that he had been her best friend. That’s when I started to cry. It also was wonderful to see the playbill was of the Mousetrap. That is the only way he could’ve played a police detective for 30 years, since the Mousetrap is the longest running play ever in Great Britain.

Their souls found a way to still be together. An exquisite love story. Thank you for posting.

Someone I know met someone in France on an exchange visit at age 15. They tried to stay in touch but were prevented from doing so. When they were in their 70s she returned to the same village & they met again & married. They lived in France for some time & then he came to the U.K & after a few years she nursed him till his demise. It seems incredible that they found each other after all those years & actually married.

Years ago, I worked in a nursing home/hospital painting room's of elderly patients. Many were 100 and over. One in particular would wake up and repeat her wedding vows from when she was married, every single day, like a broken record. Her mind was stuck in this most memorable time of her life which played out every single day until the end of it.

My husband was my best friend for 38 years. I lost him suddenly last spring to a massive heart attack. I would give the world and all just to see him one more time, and I so envy this character for being able to spend her final years meeting and falling in love with her best friend again every day for as long as they both live.

My dad was loyal to my grumpy, mentally ill mother for 60 years, until she passed away. He then, at age 82, met the love of his life. She, too, had spent decades loyally caring for an ill and difficult man, up until his death. I don't know how quickly they fell in love--I live across the country--but when I came for a visit and met her, the two of them were clearly infatuated. They constantly held hands, and kissed, and took every opportunity to cuddle together. It was such a sweet love story--they had two years of married bliss together before Dad passed away at age 85. That's where I thought this story was going, and I thought--how sweet. In the short, discovering that HE was the love of her life too was quite a gut punch--the big reveal really got me in the feels

I worked in a home with several women with Alzheimer’s. Joy began looking for her husband, who she believed was out at the car, bringing in their luggage. She thought she was at a hotel every evening. She would grow very anxious, cry for a few minutes, then go to bed. She kept old photos on her dresser- one was a black and white photograph with her on a camel, the pyramids in the background. We forget what interesting, incredible lives these individuals might have had.
