Interesting conversation! For me personally, call me old fashioned, but going to the theatre nowadays is not a treat like it used to be. Back in the day the movie theatre’s were grand and beautifully decorated. It was a nice evening out. Honestly now I prefer to watch movies in the comfort of my home, or even get together with a group of friends for movie night at home. Ask me to go see a Broadway show and I am the first in line! Now that is a real treat!

yeah. People, we are in what’s called a paradigm shift. Things will NEVER be the same again. Netflix is making $$$$ hand over fist! Nothing better than watching a GREAT MOVIE BE IT OLD OR NEW in the COMFORT of your home, especially with a PANDEMIC going on. I can drink wine, go to a clean bathroom, eat gourmet food, etc. TO HELL WITH THEATERS. WAKE UP! It is a WHOLE NEW WORLD 🌎

Some movies just need to be seen, at least for the first time, at the theater!

Really like going to the movies. It is a chance to get out of the house. The cinema has better sound, plus the large screen. You get to see trailers of movies to come. A big plus for me is I get to watch the movie in one go. At home my wife likes to stop a movie, so she can get a hot drink, plus get food, go to the toilet etc. So a 2 hour movie can stretch to 3, sometimes longer.

I am with Don on this. I am old and the only streaming I can do successfully is in the bathroom. The Cinemas here in Australia are having a difficult time because they are so expensive. The luxury recliner Cinemas charge $50 with no child pricing. The normal cinema prices vary between $10 and $30. Add the exorbitant costs of candy and it all becomes too hard for most families. The cinema experience is the best way to view a movie and if the prices were lower the Cinemas would be full. I often attend the cinema and fewer than 10 people are there. The weekends also do better but not anywhere near full. I don't know how this compares to Canada and the US.

I don’t think movie theatres are going away. They have been evolving to be more of a social and entertaining experience. I particularly like the reservable, spacious and reclining seats that Landmark has in our local theatre. Plus if you make use of readily available discounts you can do a date night with movie, popcorn and drinks (non-alcoholic) for around $30.

I do t go to theaters anymore. But I don't watch movies much at home either. OMG!!! Yes! I typed that out loud! Seriously, I'm not as comfortable in them as I used to be. I really am spoiled with pause and replay. The last movie I went to at a theater was Finding Dory. I enjoyed it, but my 5 yr old granddaughter kept asking to leave. Go figure.

I'm not sure how to lean on this topic. On the one hand, I'm practically a shut-in at this point (pandemic or non-pandemic times) anyway because most people suck and I don't want to be around them. For that reason, same day streaming as theatrical release sounds appealing. On the other hand, for the $19.99 they were charging on Amazon for the in-theater movie rentals I could go to a matinee ($5), get a large fountain drink ($3.50) and large popcorn ($6.50) and still have money left to burn. I guess I could use the extra money for Lysol wipes to clean the seat and armrests?

There will always be theaters for those particular movies people want to see on a big screen like avatar

I realize the Trolls movie wasn't very good (I hated the first one lol) but my kids loved it...they gonna like the sequel? Theaters are in BIG trouble.

Ît's all about the money and who keeps more. If they release all the cartoons on demand parents would not have to go just click and walk away. Paul nice "trolling" Mark 🤣in the beginning.
