Worked at McDonald's for a while, and the whole "You're only here so we know you exist and can put you on payroll" part is genuinely pretty accurate. Came in to work one afternoon, and there was just some random dude in the kitchen. No hat or shirt or anything, just casual Tshirt and jeans. Turned out he was a new hire who had literally just called a couple hours earlier to inquire about a position and they were already training him.

I had a friend that was a manager at a catering company. For job interviews, he'd sit there with a pen and a note pad, asking questions and appear to be writing down notes on the pad. When they were done with the interview, he'd turn the pad around for them and it would be a picture of a house or some other random picture and he'd tell them they were hired lol
