Moana 2 (also known as Vaiana 2 or Oceania 2 in some markets) is a 2024 American animated musical adventure film produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios for Walt Disney Pictures.

It is the sequel to Moana (2016) and the second installment in the Moana franchise. The film was directed by David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand, and Dana Ledoux Miller (in their feature directorial debuts) and produced by Christina Chen and Yvett Merino, from a screenplay by Jared Bush and Miller.

The film stars Auliʻi Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson

Movie Review perfectly hit the Bulls-eye.
Exactly what I felt after seeing the part 1 and 2.

Actually Hawaiian Islands were settled by Island hopping people who came all the way from India/Indonesia etc. culturally they have many similarities with our culture.

They believe that the chief is responsible to talk with the Gods and ensure the flow of "mana" vital life giving force like our prana/chi for the well-being and prosperity of the whole community.

The character of the farmer in the movie was so badly developed but was among the most important persons on such expeditions as he would ensure that they would have crops at the end of the journey.

James Michener has written a set of books (Hawaii, Tales from the South Pacific, Return to Paradise etc).

Their knowledge of astronomy and Ocean currents was immense. But that is only hinted at in the movie. Read Thor Heyerdahl's book "Kon-Tiki" a recreation of the journey on simplest balsawood rope tied rafts from South America to Polynesian Islands. He was a National Geographic sponsored researcher so there's photos and diary and even a movie made on the topic.
