Early next year i plan to expand my rural Japan cafe to include rescuing stray cats in my area to turn it into a unique Cat Cafe. Any help is very much appreciated.

Vegemite is available at the Kaldi chain of stores. Every Aeon mall has one. Cost 650 yen for a small jar.

Fun Fact my Grandfather was struggling to make a start as farmer in the 60's so he took a job with Kraft at Strathmerton where he could use his training in chemistry. One of his tasks was to make vegemite more palatable. Some people may think he failed but I quite like vegemite and sometimes even have it on toast..

Great advice. My family has been in Iwate for 2 months, and being able to cook a few familiar dishes brings comfort to us all and helps our kids be more eager to taste and grow accustomed to local dishes too.

Love my red frogs and spearmint leaves. Yes you can still get them. My daughter spent a year on exchange in mino city Gifu. Absolutely love it there, have been twice to visit her host families. I used to send her food parcels with Tim tam biscuits, minties etc. last visit in 2020 had the best spaghetti bolognaise at a restaurant at Kyoto station. My favourite is Japanese beef curry and chicken katsu

Just need a friend that you’re going to pay to ship you stuff. When I was overseas, I had a friend that I could send a list of stuff I wanted to get it and mail it to me. I’ll give him 30-40 bucks extra for his time and we were both happy.

A large convection oven / microwave served me well in Japan. Many had their 1st turkey dinner from that thing.

These specialty shops are interesting.
Im im an Japanese Warthunder clan and also chatting with some.
Sometimes i see Schoko Kola popping up on the Discord, which isnt available in japan beyond the shops.
And another Japanese, who is born here in Hamburg, but moved early on with their parents to Japan, and comes relatively often back to Hamburg to their grand parents.
Just for fun, Beer (often complains about japanese beer tasting bad because of the rice brew addition) and going first thing to Edeka to get some good sausages for a better price.

Is it hard to get a normal home oven in Japan? I always see small houses kitchens and they have a fish grill/cooktop but I rarely seem to see ovens or dishwashers.

I wonder how much it would cost to ship a catering size tub of vegemite? Also I can’t say all Japanese restaurants in Australia are authentic… I mean why do we have onions in maki-rolls?!?

The more Captial a restaurant is called the better your chance to avoid a bad meal. 2 Rome italian restaurants, a chez paris and a Great german cook that i was hoping to get some good sausage. Nope, long thin chippolate/hot dog style sausage in okayama.

We spend three weeks in Japan every year. One of the best things is the food. However, after 3 weeks I'm really looking forward to some proper Aussie grub. Particularly some lamb. That pizza oven would do an awesome lamb roast. I wonder what Japanese people would think of an Aussie lamb roast. Or even a meat pie.

My Australian friend brought vegimite with her when she visited a few years back. I was’t prepared for how salty it was. With butter on toast wasn’t too bad, not too bad with tomato either.

I'll be patiently waiting to see the ladies reactions to the cheesy-mite scrolls. Can you get good cheddar over there? I couldn't find it on my 4 week holiday. I got the impression the Japanese only eat bland cheese, like mozzarella.

Barbeque Shapes....I really missed them! I also missed mowing the lawn, lawns generally, being able to park easily nearly anywhere, Australian beaches, the smell of gum trees, roast dinners, Christmas with family, warm DRY air, freedom to move around easily without much traffic, open countryside with rolling green hills. The list goes on. I love Japan but only for short periods.
