I read the manga before the remake, BIG MISTAKE, I became a hater after reading the chimera ant arc... 20 chapters of pure narration and panels killed my enthusiasm for the entire series, the anime could not recover me.

I learned to appreciate the arch right as it ended. But I think the reason i hated it a first was how fast the power creep moved and how slow they were about delivering landmarks of power. It took me a long time between meeting the royal guards and finally appreciating where in the power levels they were.

Honestly, yeah I agree. I dropped hxh for a while at the beginning of the chimera ant arc. Eventually came back and finished the show even reading some manga up to another very important fight. But still, that first half of the chimera and arc was tough

Like ya, theres some slow parts, but when you get to the end of the arc it all pays off with literally the best and saddest scene in any anime I've ever watched.
