Moving In & Organising My Walk In Wardrobe

Welcome to our new series of vlogs where we will be renovating our early 1960's converted bungalow in the beautiful Kent countryside. This renovation will involve a lot of #DIY as we do like to get stuck in however we are not professionals in any way so these are not tutorials 😂. From experience renovating previous properties we know that we learn from our mistakes and pick up new tips, tricks and skills along the way. This is not going to be a quick turn around, we'll be doing this over the course of the next few years so thank you for coming along for the journey, hopefully we'll still have all our limbs, fingers and toes intact by the end of it 🤞🏼

ADVERTISING
As content creation is our business and how we earn our living you will see advertising in our content from time to time in different forms:
We are very selective about what brands we work with on paid/sponsored content creation and as a rule we don't work with any brand that we don't already or wouldn't spend our own money on. We are incredibly proud of all our brand partnership content and it will always be disclaimed in the most transparent way possible so you know exactly what is and 'AD'.
Because we don't work with a large amount of brands on sponsored content we do rely on our YouTube ad revenue. Any adverts you watch during the duration of our videos will earn us a small percentage of 'ad revenue' from YouTube and we really appreciate you watching the adverts in full (and not skipping them), but only if and when you can. We also know that time is precious so no pressure.
We also use 'Affiliate Links' in the description boxes below our videos and if you make a purchase via these links we will earn a small percentage of commission depending on the sale amount. Not all links are affiliate links but just assume they are
Any items/links marked with '[AD - Pr products]' are products which have been 'gifted' from the respective brands without a contract for sponsored content. This is still classed as a form of advertising because nothing is ever "free", brands are gaining exposure to our audience by us featuring them, so these items are marked as 'AD' but we are under no obligation to feature these items. And as with our paid content, we never accept gifting/pr products from brands that we don't already or wouldn't spend our money on. If we have received a press discount on anything featured this will also be disclaimed.

So happy for you. You’ve come such a long way from the wardrobes with the rods that bent under the weight of your jeans and we were all so concerned would break! Enjoy your super calm space, it’s so lovely.

What a treat to watch this video in the morning. Your wardrobe is so aesthetically pleasing and has very calm and relaxing vibes… so so good. I already made a mental list how to update ( and for first time actually organize) my own wardrobe while watching last week’s video but now it’s decided to start this project. Thank you so much for sharing your process! Also many many bonus points for Simon for crawling into that tiny wall storage space and putting away your things 😁😁😁, well played Emma!

It's looking amazing! I've found the cedar wood balls/disks have worked well for moths, and I've moved to an open wardrobe so it's not as dark (apparently moths like dark!) and also helps air circulate. I read that going through and gently 'shaking' the clothes /hangers monthly or so helps disturb any that might be there and that seems to have helped. I see dead moths every now and then but so far not found any major holes!

Love wardrobe organization! 😍 Yours look beautiful! In Scandinavia the preference is always to store all outerwear related clothes and accessories in the hallway area, even when the hallway is small 🐰 Coats, jackets, hats, scraves, gloves, shoes (except dressy shoes). Everything we manage to fit. Either in a seperate wardrobe, open hooks for coats/jackets, open shoe shelving, drawers or similar. It seems like such a faff (and dirty with shoes) to have it elsewhere! 😅 Really interesting to see subtle differences in preference and customs across borders 😯☺️

Looks brilliant Emma!! So pleasing that everything fits in just so! I know if that was me, there would be bits hodge podge where they don't fit! I would also 100% trip over the seat/poof every single day! I hope the space is as pleasing use as it looks! I look forward to seeing what you do with the future shoe storage!! x

I love that we were able to see how you put everything in the wardrobe, it is like we did it together ❤

Watching this, I do have the guilty feeling that my stuff wouldn’t all fit in your smart new space! During the first lockdown, I decided to organise my drawers, and bought some of those bamboo dividers. I found I needed to stack one on top of another to give higher storage areas, and that has worked well for my underwear and hair styling gear. Those cedar discs look such a good idea, so I will definitely be ordering a box of them - thanks for the influencing! I use a mix of hangers - wooden for coats, jeans and jackets, but velvet for dresses, cardigans etc, as they take less room on the rails and so I can fit more in. I do know the real answer would be a severe clothing cull, but I’m not ready for that!

Wow! I've been waiting for this for weeks, maybe even months since you and Simon mentioned what the space would eventually be, and I'm super impressed! I love how the entire hack turned out and how each category has it's own separate space! I can't wait to use this as inspiration in my own tiny alcove turned walk in wardrobe! I didn't think you'd put your bags behind closed doors, but now I'm considering that as well. Being that they're mostly invest pieces, they probably should be kept in their dust bags and not gathering dust and sunlight. I can't wait to see the finishing few touches once the few pieces come in. Bravo! You just made my week! 🧡👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Well done Emma and your hubby for making this room such a beautiful space, your designs skills are so on point and practical for your use, it looks so calming in there and that extra hidden storage space behind the wall is great.

Many of our Eastern US homes are similar to UK homes lacking a “hall” or coat closet near the front door. We had to carve one out ourselves when we remodeled years ago—it may be worth it so you can free up that real estate. You’ll love those slide out accessories trays and all the rest. So happy for you!

You guys created a beautiful space!
I would love to see a video about your wishlist for this year, clothes, bags even furniture, anything really! :)

Great video! My suggestion for the space where you are waiting for the small drawers, you could put a linen basket/wash basket for your dirty washing. Loving watching you guys transform your new house.

What a treat to look at this video. It made me so calm and wished I had the same setup! 😍. I would love to see a video on folding techniques and what you group with what when it comes to your drawers knitwear, jeans, T-shirts etc. I struggle in getting them in the right size and a good combination. Also Loungewear essential, tired of pj's all day.
