I got one, Peter Wessel "Thundershield, " a Norwegian naval commander that served Danmark-Norway against a Duchman that served the Swedish Empire, the enemy of Danmark-Norway.

So Thundershield was gambling and called the duchman a cheat, claiming that the duchman is cheating and doesn't own a Hydra as he claimed he did. The duchman claimed to own the mythological 3 headed dragon and not a mighty ship called the Hydra, he was offended by Thundershield when Thundershield said he didn't own it and so tried to stab him, but failed and Thundershield started to beat him up with the pommel of his sword until the Duchman offered an a fair dual to which Thundershield agreed to and died to. Thundershield did not receive an honour burial despite being a hero of Denmark-Norway as duelling was illegal. Thundershield deserves an episode on for his madness and how he even managed to be successful as a naval commander

considering that the dueling swords used by the French in this time period would have been specifically made for thrusting it seems strange to me that they would have swung them at each other like that. although considering that this was an artist and a critic there's a reasonable chance neither of them had any clue how to use a sword.

yeah victorian era duels were pretty funny the whole rule was just “whoever gets hurt most loses” so these situations were quite common for upper and middle class people
