We've been planning this trip up to the tail of the dragon for 3 years. I even built an entire car really just for the dragon, sold it, bought another car so we both had 90's turbo awd cars. and we finally made it up here to blast some touge style mountain roads!

It kills me to say this but when we went camping a couple years ago I realized we were a half hour away from the tail so I went in the family car which was a 3rd gen prius. Because it’s so tight and technical the car stayed within the usable range for the electric motors and holy shit was that a blast. Wicked low center of gravity and a perfect weight ratio. Can’t wait to go back with the shit missile fox body my boy and I will be building in the spring. So glad you had a blast!

The Devil’s Whip, in Marion, NC is a really fun road if you’re ever back in the area!

That's the first I've seen Ben drive not on limiter the entire time.

I absolutely loved my trip to the Dragon. I did it in my 500 Abarth. Ended up with the road to myself for several hours because an 18 wheeler went on the road and of course went off a curve and blocked it off, while it was raining so nobody but me and a couple of crazy bikers were on the road. Then it dried up but the 18 wheeler was still there so I emptied a tank of gas going up and down an empty Dragon. Bucket list checked.

Awesome, and glad you had a blast up there! That has been my playground for over 10 years, but on a motorcycle. 4 years on a sport bike. To be honest, I'm lucky to be alive. The next 6 years on an ADV bike on lots and lots of dirt roads up there. The next time you go up there, try to bring or meet somebody who knows the area. But completely understandable that you just wanted to be on the dragon, especially if it was not busy, you cant go wrong. Next time up there, venture out, you will never want to leave. Also what a great car to go up there with. Small, zippy, and not too much power. Its fun to drive a lower powered car hard.

I love seeing JDM car being driven like there were meant to and that turbo sounds so good with that blowoff valve.

Great vid Taylor. I know exactly what you are getting at describing driving spirited without risking too much. Enjoying the corners can be done without being dumb.

There is a road like this in Idaho, if I remember correctly it is I-55 or near it, goes North up into the panhandle. It is curvy and just amazing, gorgeous mountain views and fast grippy corners. I was lost when I found it.

My wife and I did the dragon a few years ago on our 1973 BMW R60/5 motorcycle. It was the most fun I have ever had on the motorcycle. We new of the Dragon but were not really looking for it and we found it by accident. We were touring around the Smoky mountains and ended up right on it. Bought all the pictures the photographers had of us!
