Box Hill construction explained

We’re making great progress on construction of SRL East in Box Hill.

Crews worked around the clock last month to move and upgrade the 109 tram stop on Whitehorse Road in Box Hill, so tram services can continue while SRL East is built.

Our team will soon build a temporary bridging structure to keep traffic flowing on Whitehorse Road during construction.

With SRL East taking passengers by 2035, locals will be able to take the train from Box Hill to Cheltenham in 22 minutes or to Monash University in 10 minutes.

Who's the genius who decided to do SRL East first instead of focusing on the section that includes a connection to the airport? That's the part that we desperately need now. I know the airport themselves are being a pain about it and stalling, because they hate the idea, as it'll mean they lose out on all those exorbitant parking fees, but it's beyond a joke that a trainline to the airport hasn't been created in Melbourne yet. Should've just extended the Broadmeadows line to terminate at the airport instead of Craigieburn (and attached Craigieburn to the Upfield line), way back when that extension happened.

If we can’t build a train line out to the airport, how did the chairman and his bunch of knuckleheads think we could ever afford or build this boondoggle?
Money will be spent and money will be wasted, but this train line will never be built
