Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra Review - Are We THERE Yet?

This is the Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, and make no mistake, this product does NOT intend to be your tablet. I've always considered those to be more of a companion device that's not trying to replace your computer. Most are easy to carry, creating that sort of notepad feel, which only gets augmented by stylus input. Sure, you can use it for some productivity, but usually they're more consumption tools that can help you be creative.

This Tab S8 Ultra can be these things, but a lot of its design elements make it feel like it's not trying to be. I'm Jaime Rivera with Pocketnow and let's dive in to our full review.

Bought it, loved it, haven't touched my Dell since then! 😎

As about the brightness, it can go up to 600 nits if you turn on auto- brightness (without it is indeed limited to 400 nits), however with HDR content the measured peak brightness is 800 nits (you need to activate the bright video mode in the advanced featues for this) which is insane as most of the modern OLED TV-s can't reach this level. So yeah, screen- ways it is a real monster. The rest of the review is great ;)

I bought it for digital art & media consumption and I'm loving it. Even the issues that you mentioned have solution build into it. For example apps that only opens in portrait mode can be set to use the device orientation in settings >labs. And my s21 plus charger charges it in about 80 mins which is pretty decent for 11000mAh battery (Although I agree about getting a charger in the box). And there's a setting for keyboard which disables on-screen keyboard when you have physical keyboard connected to the device. Overall nice review. It's great to see big youtubers talk about android tablets (A lot of them still believe that ipads are the only good option when it comes to tablets).

I’m still an iPad Pro fan, but I must admit I am impressed! So glad to see some excellent competition!

I use the Tab S8 Ulta often for Kindle and ComiXology reading, and it's a superb device in both landscape and portrait, respectively.

When reviewing Tablets, I think that a few use cases should always be covered like:

1.- Note taking
2.- Drawing
3.- Book Reading
4.- Video Viewing and video streaming to TVs
5).- Audio listening quality
6).- Productivity Apps: spread sheets, document creation, presentation tools
7).- Video Conferencing
8).- Photography and image editing
9).- Video Editing
10).- Programming - Software Development: IDE + Programming Languages
11).- Connectivity with screen displays and other accessories.

The above list will help to convince many end users to switch to Tablets ecosystem

Why don't more reviewers note that there are many apps that aren't sized to fit the iPad? Instagram and other apps dont fit an iPad or are stuck in portrait mode and dont turn landscape, but it's always brought up with Android tablets...

8:29 you have to disable "Show On-Screen Keyboard" so it won't appear while you're using the keyboard. General Management>Physical Keyboard>Show On-Screen Keyboard (switch it off)

Coming from S6, Then the S7+; that tablet is my baby, but the trade in is 1/2 off . The bookcover keyboard had tech issues and was too expensive on the last 2 generations, this one came free with pre-order, has a more comfortable spread, and a backlight. Like having a second screen, it does screen casting, is a media wizard, love using Snote which thankfully is compatible with MS office suite. Still trying to do digital art, its nice to have that option. It's a fun and handsome tech tool looking forward to adjusting to it. Keyboard checks out. If you didn't get the pre-order I'd use a Bluetooth, just don't expect the price to go down, Samsung never knocks their cover prices down.

I'm using it for the past month and it's a very interesting tablet. It is fragile without a case and it's quite heavy to be carried or used BUT the display and sound is really amazing! My colleagues at work were too intrigued when they first saw it.

5:46 Not true. The S7 and S7+ used the Snapdragon 865+ SoC, same as the Note 20 and Note 20 Ultra.

Within the settings is an option to turn off virtual keyboard when a physical keyboard is attatched. was driving me crazy until I found that setting.

I am watching from this tablet's Great Grandpa the Samsung Galaxy View.
I really wish it had some processing power to edit videos, but for straight-up media consumption, and to view photos it still is wonderful machine! Even at a lowly Android 5.1.
Great review always enjoy your quality content ✌️
