My Fellow Nursebrother and I Share our Personal 6 Shocking Truth Tips of our own Nursing Experiences after graduation as a NEW Grad to extending your career working on other specialties or units to become a Great Nurse.

1) You will be surprised that nursing is always changing, evolving and growing with more responsibilities that time management is more important than ever before.

2) Always try different units like ER, Medsurg, tele, ICU and move on to different floors to be a well rounded nurse.

3) Nursing takes a solid 1-2 years of experience to be competent.

4) Always take up new challenges with the high ill acuity patients to learn.

5) Build a good rapport with your staff, colleagues, nurses that way they will take you as a candidate for the job position over others since they know you.

6) Don't be afraid to get in the middle of all the other patient care as you help the other nurses as a team player.

NurseMendoza you are such a role model man...I have to say that i really felt what you meant when you were advicing new nurses when they get a job to always ask questions...Although not a new nurse myself, i moved my practise from Greece to England and the system here is sooo different that i felt like a nursing student again...Adjusting is soo hard but if you always stick to your job and try your best you always manage

Thanks again for all the hard work you are putting for all the nurses out there!

Remember to tell the students to do at least 1 year of ER. Or ICU, Trauma in a big time hospital. It is SO important for your career. When you no longer want to deal with working holidays, take call, night shift etc. You will get hired at high paying surgery centers that give bonuses and pay so much better. If you don't have that, you will not get the job. 34 yrs. A nurse here!

Is it really hard to get into a hospital with an associates for a Rn? I know having a bachelors is always better but not sure how much school I’m able to go through but of course the end goal is to be a Rn
