Just an FYI, but NX Studio now works flawlessly using bottles on Linux.

For me, one of the (two) biggest flaws of NX Studio is the fact you cannot edit JPG's the same way as RAW files - using the same modules or tools. I use almost exclusively Nikon cameras and shoot in RAW, but in the past I also owned Nikon P530 and Nikon P610 which could only do JPGs. And sometimes I need to edit some JPGs from other cameras or my phone - my workflow is much wider, I do not only photograph birds in nature but also draw and paint them, so I need to edit photos of my work. For a long time I couldn't affort a good, RAW capable camera, so I have a large library of my drawings only photographed in JPG. When you open these files in NX Studio - editing capabilities are, well, pathetic compared to Lightroom (where there is no difference in workflow and available tools) or Darktable (no noticeable difference, as there is a special workflow pipeline applied for JPGs). I feel newcomers and amateur photographers shoot JPGs quite often, and they might be dissapointed and confused with this - quite artificial imo - limitation. The second, biggest flaw for me: there is no Linux version available. And as I moved completely to Linux, ditching Microsoft and Adobe AI scams on all my household machines - I have no intention of ever going back and be trapped in another scammy bubble. I'm glad Nikon provides this free software - but it needs more work (not much have changed since Nikon Capture NX days, many, many years ago). Hopefully they will notice the potential, as more and more people get wiser and ditch Adobe nowadays - and will develop the software more actively.
