I always thought this was part of the soundtrack. Didn't realise it's an actual song. It suits it perfectly!

One of the most beautiful songs by New Order. RIP, Ian.

I was born in a small village. I was still a child when we were raided by soldiers - foreign soldiers. Torn from my elders I was made to speak their language. With each new post my masters changed along with the words they made me speak. With each change - I changed too. My thoughts, personality, How I saw right and wrong... Words Can Kill.

As soon as this scene played, my head screamed....METAL GEAR

Perfect musical accompaniment from the great New Order. So poignant and haunting. I loved this piece when it came out 30+ years ago.

Just when I thought I couldn't fall in love with a series so quickly as much as I already did the Duffer brothers do this, absolutely brilliantly done can't wait for season 2 and great to see so many other MGS fans besides myself here

I finally saw this show (and this episode) last night. When this song started, it triggered something deep in my mind. Something that I haven't heard in almost 2 years. A haunting melody. God DAMN Kojima you picked a good song (you too Stranger Things brothers guys).

Hideo masterfully used it for probably the best trailer ever and Stranger Things again uses it for such a perfect scene...epic

That scene with the dog going into Castle Byers and whining just brought me to tears. The Dog misses Will.

This scene, the emotion, and you can see heart was put into it, is why I forever will love season 1 more than any other. The writing was better, they made do with a small budget and made the best show ever.

The moment I heard the chime I nearly shat myself. I knew I was in for some chills.

This song is obviously an elegy (hence the name) and it fits perfectly with this funeral scene. I always pictured someone going to their friend's funeral and instead of telling a story about their loved one, they go up and just play this instrumental. This is what your life sounded like if it were music. You're gone but your story isn't over. That idea plays perfectly with the funeral because the people who knew Will best KNOW he's not really gone. This also takes the feelings of grief and explores them further. When a loved one dies, we find it hard to believe, even after years or decades, and feel that they are still with us. In Stranger Things, our characters truly believe Will to be alive. Winona Ryder's acting in this first season is brilliant and her face says exactly what her actions have been showing us; she's not even afraid to show her disbelief of reality or try to fake it in front of the community. It's also reiterated when Dustin says to the boys he can't wait to tell Will that their female classmate was "crying at his funeral", implying they're going to see him again in this corporeal world.

Lol I love how this comment section is filled with mgs fans. I remember watching the e3 2015 trailer for the first time. I miss being hyped for mgs5 😢

as soon as this scene started, I leaped up without even pausing the episode and grabbed my copy of MGSV.
