There wasn't anything 'fancy' in '84 when l entered my '75 Superbug in the VW Show....l drove it up the day before to avoid forecast bad weather and rented a garage overnight across the road from the event. Asked Bill Mann, owner of the 'Mister Bug' company if l could use his HQ Holden ute to transprt the car up the gravel drive to avoid the dust. The bug won outright best in show for the third year in a row. It was one of those from factory cars that was unstoppable. I entered it another two times to give it 5 in a row highest scoring car, the only VW to do this in Australia. Whatever that means, even to me, it is was it is. A piece of history.

Never understood why people would want to do this. If it was a $100, 000 car maybe. Otherwise it’s not a good investment, you’ll never recoup the cost. Maybe just because a person likes to see their car looking pristine or has an excessive amount of money to waste.

I did that after I bought my Model 3 Performance. I drove it from San Francisco to Los Angeles a week after I bought it. I wanted to protect the front before I added the paint protection film.

If I had a new car, I would do the same since it's brand new, and the condition can only get worse so might as well protect the paint from day 1 so it looks like new for years to come.
