I know ECB and probably most cricket fans in England don't care about anything except for test cricket and icc trophies but by resting Joe Root time and again from bilateral Odis, they make it really tough for him to then find rhythmm straightaway playing an icc odi tournament or giving him just one bilateral Odi series before the big tournament. Root used to play Odis regularly till 2020 but despite the fact that he only plays 2 formats and that Odis anyways are played in much lesser quantity these days, they still don't give him even 1 Odi series per year.

I think sri lanka have some real talent in the middle order and a world class spinner. They played very well!

Never liked Nasser the cricketer much, absolutely love Nasser the pundit.

Athers usually all class.

It would be great to see a podcast on how both of you all started of in cricket and how you moved on to be selected for England.

Test Batting is a massive concern for England. Genuinely concerned with pope at 3 and even stokes at 6. Pope is way too inconsistent and stokes's fitness means he is just not up to all-round role. Solution? Stokes at 3? this would certainly allow root, brook, smith at 4, 5, 6 plus two allrounders like Curran and woakes at 7 and 8 then Atkinson, wood/stone and Bashir.

I saw Josh Hull bowl for Leicestershire seconds against Derbyshire seconds earlier this summer. He toiled away as Anuj Dal, Harry Came and Matt Lamb made bucket loads of runs.

I wouldn't have described him as quick. Admittedly in a low key fixture, but he was not even the quickest bowler on show.

He didn't look an England bowler then -but the very best of luck to him.

Thanks for another great podcast chaps. They have such a lovely natural relaxed feel with you doing them from your homes by webcam, and chatting about your kids and all of that stuff. Life is stressful, and there is so much bad news out there - but whenever I see a new Nasser and Athers podcast on youtube, I feel I can sit back in a comfy chair, pour myself a whisky or something and listen in - and it feels like having a relaxed hour in the pub with old mates for some escapism talking about Cricket..
The way you guys do these podcasts is unfashionable and unpolished and absolutely perfect.

Always enjoy these two commentating. Nasser needs to sort out those bookshelves: send the current lot off to the charity shop or the recycling, get in a few cricketing biogs, a good run of Wisdens and a selection of cricketing mementos on that awkward second shelf if they fit!!

In the last podcast, Nasser and Athers started out by updating about their kids' A-level results and that their kids would be starting University soon...

In this podcast, at 8:38...Nasser tells Athers "your Josh" (referring to Athers' son Joshua de Caires) and "your lad goes drinking with him occasionally" at 23:35

Clearly...it appears Nass and Athers are close enough to know each other's kids well. I understand their careers ran in parallel, both captained each other in the England team, and now working colleagues at Sky Sports. Truly heart-warming to see how fondly they talk about each other's kids too :)

Is there any chance for James Vince in ODIs as Malan got retired?

Lawrence not a test opener. Why not Curran for Stokes as this helps balance with good batter at 8, as he can play all formats and in form and Potts no penetration.
