The Center for Early Childhood Education at Eastern Connecticut State University is committed to enhancing the quality of early care and education by conducting and disseminating innovative research
Our research has explored topics such as the social interactions of dual language learners, joint attention and turn-taking in toddlers with autism, the effect of math talk during play on children’s mathematical development, and preschoolers’ abilities to code and debug robotic toys. Faculty partner with student researchers and early childhood professionals to observe and record children and teachers.
Our videos feature experts in the field, early childhood professionals engaged in teaching and care-giving, and footage of infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children. These award-winning videos are used all over the world for teacher preparation and professional development purposes.
Our Video Clip Library for Faculty and Trainers is a searchable database of video clips accessible only from our website. The short video clips are designed for reflection and discussion purposes and include footage from centers, schools, and family child care homes. Users can search for clips by setting, age, developmental domain, and content area.
