My honest opinion on the $45,000 2022 Volkswagen Golf R

Well here it is guys, the new Volkswagen Golf R. 315 horsepower, 27 more than the outgoing model and 310 pound-feet of torque.

Thanks to the standard 4Motion all-wheel drive, the Golf R goes from 0 to 62 mph in 4.7 seconds and on to a limited top speed of 155 mph.

The Golf R will go on sale in the U.S. as a 2022 model during the second half of 2021 with a price around $45,000.

My father worked for VW for 53 years, since the 1970s and the MK1 golf, and its funny you mention the booklet or rules regarding a cars design. They have an even larger book for build quality. The top brass at VW were obsessed by things like not being able to see the seat runners in the interior and how the sealant between two metal overlaps around the boot door had to be finished like a work or art. The VW brand is a culture and law unto themselves, and its quite endearing.

Big Props to VW for keeping the Golf Hatchback design looking like a Hatchback still vs. everyone else making their Hatchbacks look like SUVs etc...
