Chinese firm produces Argentina's first new-energy light rail train

A major Chinese high-speed train manufacturer has produced Argentina's first new-energy light rail train, marking the first time China has produced a such a train for export.
Powered by lithium iron phosphate batteries, the fully battery-driven train will harness the abundant solar energy of Argentina to operate with photovoltaic power generation.
Argentine authorities joined CRRC Tangshan, the company that produced the locomotive, at at ceremony Tuesday in Tangshan in north China's Hebei Province, held to celebrate the project's completion.
Pablo Civetta, president of the Entity for Urban Planning of the Province of Jujuy, Argentina was among the attendees and expressed appreciation for the Chinese-made train.
The train will be used by the transport system of Jujuy Province of Argentina. Its exterior color design is based on Quebrada de Humahuaca, a World Heritage site in Jujuy known for its beautiful rocky mountains. Meanwhile, its sizable windows provide viewing convenience for sightseeing tourists traveling by train.
The new-energy light rail train project was signed between CRRC Tangshan and Jujuy authorities in May 2022, and construction began in October of the same year.
