I've loved my Sony phones over the years (though I have a Samsung now cus the Fold 4 is a beast!). Having 4k screens and waterproofing before anyone else even considered the idea made Sony phones so good.

Tony and Chelsea Northrup put out a recent video lately that argues that Sony is using these phones to perfect their software and eventually port it into their Mirrorless cameras. Which would be absolutely AMAZING! Android operating system instead of the outdated proprietary garbage software that everyone else is using? That will change the whole camera market, just like Sony did with the Mirrorless cameras. Faster wifi, no need for SD cards cus everything could load to the cloud, real security options, computational photography as well as analog? Absolute game changer if they can pull this off. And I'm very convinced they will..

My wife and I never cared about the updates as they are just a sales gimmik anyway. She used her XZ premium for the past 6 years years without issues. This year she get's an upgrade for Xmass. I ordered the Sony 10 ii, and they send me the Sony 1 ii by accident. So she is very happy. I got myself the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra which is far superioir of the Samsung Flip 5 due to the front screen. But I will keep that phone for at least 6 years.

I'm looking at the mark 2 because its the only 6.5 that's in my top price range. My main reason is the front facing stereo speakers. I'm rocking the Pixel 3 XL now and I'm a front facing stereo speaker spoiler. But I don't have the bucks for newer Sony s. I'm fine with my 3xl, but the battery has been going. The screen on my xl is superb. It's mint, condition wise, and does everything I personally need in a phone. And I loves my speakers. That's why I'm looking at the Sony. With comp features. Maybe the 5 mark 2 or 3. They're cheaper but have less performance features. And smaller. I'm thinking about a battery replacement. But seeings I'm not getting updates anymore. Another con. Plus, I don't want to risk cracking the back. I messed up my Moto x pure, putting a new battery in it.
Anyway, thanks for the trip into the future for me, and the past for you. ✌️

Cool flight Deck my dude, and excellent review, didn't hear you mention wireless charging availability, looking at one of these used in May of 2024 for 50 bucks and thinking why not for my kid. The stand you showed was cool too, dual front facing speakers should be a thing instead of a rarity. I was always going for the Xperia 5 series due to smaller size and better battery life. As for camera it was just good BUT install a gcam mod (bigkaka ones work great) and you have a winner
