Perhaps when talking about appying tourniquet, Sarah did not tell them not to apply a tourniquet around the neck ! She ought to have brought red sauce, or some other realistic alien colour to mimic blood !!!😂. Then there are the stakes simulating impalement on the dummy torso !!😁

A real error in that demonstration is not clearing the airway first before doing breathing and CPR. Also sucking out snake venom is outdated as the venom goes through the nerve system not the blood supply. A firm bandage over the bite site and up and down the Limb is best to try to slow the passage of the venom. In Australia we have a special elastic bandage that shows the correct pressure to wrap it on the Limb. It's usually a limb that gets bitten. In Australia we have some of the most deadly snakes in the world.

Clearing the airway first is crucial.
If because of Covid etc you don't want to do the breathing procedure you could improvise with a plastic bag with a hole in it as a mouth cover. Or just go straight to CPR as the blood has oxygen in it that can keep the brain alive and it compresses the lungs too.
First aiders are not taught to cut breathing holes in the trachea becaoits a medical procedure only a doctor can do. But I might try it while being careful not to cut arteries and veins, in an isolated area far from help.

Unlike the movies, CPR does not restart the heart. It's an artificial pumping action that keeps blood circulating to the brain. That's why you have to keep going. The rhythm is to the tune of the song 'Staying Alive', we were taught.
I suggest you all do a real first aid course or at least watch some videos on basic first aid.

Sarah Cooper:-
a. A Trouble maker!
b. The alien teachers should know what to do (given the number of times she has done this)
c. Is there a reason Terrain Ed selected her to go off world?

Having been through basic life support training myself, what they were teaching in the class before Sarah took over is what most people can do for themselves even without training. When I was a child, my mom gave me CPR and first aid lessons herself about once a year being she was a registered nurse. When I was working in a medical clinic, I was required to re-certify about every 2 years. The training isn't too different from the basic CPR described in this story. For the rest, like treatment for envenomation, that is left for when the EMTs arrive.
