I really wish there was a festival or two for farm animals. It's the one thing I still miss from Harvest Moon since it meant that taking care of your animals to max heart and putting them in a competition to win would make them permanently produce golden produce actually meant something since there was a payoff instead of higher quality produce.

Desert Festival is imo the best. You can just stack a bunch of Luck and then deep dive Skull Cavern and come back with hundreds of Calico eggs and if you're lucky like me with also 2 auto petters.

If you forget who your gift person is for the The Feast of Winter Star you can check your character info page ( the one with your skills level info on it) and in the bottom right is the person your suppose to give the gift to.

Only thing I don't like about the Desert Festival is it overlaps with Salmonberry Season.

My favorite is the Dance of the Moonlight Jellies ^.^
Yeah, there' essentially nothing to do but the atmosphere is absolutely *magical.* Absolutely adore it. The music, the low light of a night scene, the panning from left to right over the characters of one of my favorite games. Just beautiful. And then that final message at the end, I know the end of summer is just half way through the year but it feels like the end of a chapter. The end of good times for a farmer. But also the start of a new chapter. Absolutely love and adore that festival <3

Moonlight Jellies has the best music for sure, but it is not the best "festival". I often just listen to stardew music and moonlight Jellies is great for a short meditation.

Love the Desert festival myself. Being in year 15 I hardly worry about some of the older events, but I never miss the Night Market or Midnight Jellies just because of the music as you mentioned and how pretty overall it is.

As a Harvest moon ancient player, I miss the tomato festival held at summer.

There you get 2 villagers (imagine Abigail and Sam) as NPCs on your team and fight another 3 man team throwing tomatoes at each other.

The controls were pretty basic, with one button to duck and another to throw tomatoes at the opposing team, one hit and you're out and the first to eliminate the whole team wins.

Probably one of the only festivals I remember, that and the horse/dog races.

Cactus, standing with pride in the heat,
With needles no foe would dare meet.
It guards the dry plains,
Where scarce rainfall reigns,
Yet blooms with a beauty so sweet.

We all know you only ranked the Luau so high because you love to torture Mayor Lewis! Shorts Stew for EVERYBODY!

The Night Market has been a game changer ever since he introduced it because of the ability to buy all of the seeds in one place. This festival is around the time I'm usually unlocking Ginger Island (and I still have a bunch of quality sprinklers sitting around in a chest) so I buy 8x of every seed (more for the seeds that need to be replanted) and I dedicate a portion of my Ginger Island farm to planting one square for every crop, so I always have cooking ingredients handy, etc.

All of the festivals rate as "do once per character" by now. I might take the submarine every year.
It helps that I've seen all of the old ones fairly often by now.

You can look through your mail in the same collections sections like minerals and fish ect to help with winter star festival

I actually kinda enjoy the Trout Derby. You get some nice prices for trading in the tickets you find! The only part that was frustrating is the fact that (At least in my game, I don't know if it's just me) it takes place during salmonberry season.
I also love the Luau and the Moonlight Jellies festival, just for the fun and relaxing vibes they bring!
(Also, this may sound odd, but I'd love to see someone attempt to make a soup like the one from the Luau! Like, someone makes a soup base, and everyone brings an ingredient to add, "Secret Santa" style for the randomness! I'm curious to see what happens!)

Thank you for posting - I agree with your listing, except Midnight Jellies as second and Flower Festival as last. I have not attended the Desert Festival yet, but SDV will be my summer game, so hopefully soon!
