I nearly spat me Trifle up the wall when you said you hoped the Range Rover wasn't going to cost a fortune to repair as you quite liked the wife, Classic!🤣🤣👍

Friend of mine used to work at a LR dealership and they used to take bets every week on how many cars came back on a recovery truck lol. Tells you everything

Land Rover have been getting away with poor reliability for far too long! My sister had a 16 plate Evoque and it was just awful! The dash was permanently lit up like a Christmas tree despite frequent trips to the garage! Cost many thousands over the years to keep it going!

I know a mechanic who owns a Range Rover and he said he spends as much time working on his as he does on his customers cars and when I asked him why he still has it he said it’s because his wife loves it

Having been a Range Rover owner I had numerous issues, our local independent R Rover breaker and repairer has a very large compound full of broken RR and Discos, so buyer beware you will need a very friendly garage or big pockets.

Your correct Lee. You're not there to police his life. It sounds as if you gave him plenty of opportunities to walk away You run a business selling cars not a care in the community establishment. All the best Jim

You can thank FoMoCo for the Evoque diff 🤦‍♂️ known for bearing failure! Haldex can cause issues too, no drain plug to change the oil, drained by removing the haldex pump, which is maybe why its sealed up 🤔 also there's a N373 solenoid valve in the haldex controlled by the ecu that can clog up if not serviced regularly. Makes it hang in 4wd, you get the scrabbling effect on full lock as you would with a permanent 4wd car. New haldex pumps are a fortune 💸💸 surprisingly its the same unit fitted to a later Mk1 XC90 🤦‍♂️ thanks ford!! Great vid Lee 👍

What a shame to see that DS3 rot away on a driveway. Some people really are strange.

Hi Lee, great channel, the 4 wd train used on your Land Rover is the Haldex version 4, actually common to the Ford Kuga and Volvo models, as Ford owned both those Marques back in the day. The Haldex itself is a Borg Warner product, the diff casing as you will see when you remove it, will have Volvo stamped on it, they are actually fairly reliable if the fluids are changed regularly, which most owners don’t bother or are ignorant of the need to. What doesn’t help is all those manufacturers say the components in the drivetrain are sealed for life ( for that read the warranty period). Use the oil in the Haldex pump kit and the correct oil in the rear diff itself. If it was skipping before you remove and replace the whole diff and Haldex assembly pull the supply harness out of the module bolted to the Haldex and take it for a drive to see if the clunking and skipping disappears, ( this will throw a message and a fault code on the dash ) but if it drives fine, check the module before you swap it to the new diff for water ingress and corrosion as there is a valve with holes in behind the module which can be a cause of the skipping, it wont be the pump itself causing that. A faulty pump usually throws a p1889 code, ( on s Ford so possibly the same) as you made no mention of a code the pump was probably running and supplying pressure. Good luck !

Your story about the guy wanting to buy a car and leave on his drive reminds me of my brother, he has a car that sits in his garage never goes anywhere in it ( has a license by the way ex HGV driver) and every mot time gets the garage to fetch the car put it through a test and bring it back, I said to him to sell it but his answer is “ I’ve had a car since I was 17 am not getting rid”, he’s 68 😂🤣😂
