Why You Can't Take A Plane To The Top Of Everest

Показать описание
The real reason no planes fly over the himalayan mountain range, especially why aircraft don't fly you to the top of everest.

DESCRIPTION

Planes fly up to 40,000 feet in the air but they always avoid one particular place: the highest point on Earth - Mount Everest. Due to an ominous mix of 200 mp/h high-winds, shaky turbulence caused by ‘Mountain waves’, and a havoc-wreaking altitude, commercial airlines avoid Everest, and the entire Himalayan range like the plague. But could we fly above it if we wanted to? People have certainly done it before. What if we could parachute to the summit from above - that would save us months of strenuous hiking.

Umm, as sad as it is, you missed the part where Valery Rozov base-jumped off Everest to set a record but died trying to do the same from a different mountain in the Himalayas in 2017. The Himalayas in general are no-fly zone for commercial aircraft, not just the area surrounding The Everest.

I wish they'd give George Mallory credit for at least a mention that he was probably the first to ever summit Everest.

Any plane that fly's near Everest is required to have 1 hr or more of air. The air supply system is completely different then a standard commercial flight. If a plane had a problem with depression near Everest. It would be 45 mins to an hour before the plane could be below 10, 000 safely. There are commercial airports above 10, 000(ie China daocheng yading) they have on board air supply for passengers until hey get airborne and the pressurization kicks in which could take an hour.

TLDV : In case of emergency you need to lower the plane to 10, 000 feet to be able to breath because the O2 masks on board has O2 for 20 minutes.

Air Force jets in 1933, huh? 6 whole years before the first jet ever flew. That's rich. Or should I say, "That's The Richest"?
