Dollar Tree sells Icing Sugar that you could have also grabbed along with the icing. It would have helped firmed up the icing more to make it easier to pipe. Most Dollar Trees also sells shortening, and vanilla even, which could also be used to making icing or used to help with stability of the premade icing lol. But It is really nice to see you baking again! It has been a hot minute since we have seen a baking video from Ro!

I've never really understood the hype of Erewhon and crazy expensive "organic" things like what they sell. It's gimmicky and the organic tag really doesn't mean anything. The raspberries from Target are also organic lol. The FDA doesn't regulate the term organic, so you're paying 10x more for a product for nothing. Also, be so dang careful with raw milk. We pasteurize it for a reason to decrease the chance of foodborne illnesses like Salmonella, E. coli, and Listeria. I'm not saying the cake wasn't delicious, I just really don't understand the hype for most of the ingredients because the labels don't mean anything from a food production stand point and they pose a risk to public health. (This is information I've learned through veterinary school, public health classes, inspections of facilities with the USDA and FDA, as well as food animal production experience)

i feel like that was way more doable without a box mix at certain dollar trees

I'd love to see more like this. Maybe one where Ro elevates inexpensive things like how that Dollar Tree cake looked really good even though it wasn't expensive. Proof that anyone can make an elevated cake with what they have, type of thing.
Maybe another 3 price point baking challenge, only that time everything looks identical with no extra added ingredients. I understand not all Dollar Tree stores have all the baking things (the one close to me does have oil, though), but I feel like Target also sells almond oil, lemon oil, and dried raspberries if those were ingredients she really wanted to use. Perhaps not all Targets, but I know I've seen organic dried raspberries in at least 2 of the stores near me. Again, I get the ingredient limitations, I'd just like to see a baking challenge without extra ingredients or decorations. 3 identical cakes with identical ingredients made with ingredients of different quality/price points, can you tell which one is which?

They didn't give Dollar Tree a chance, they do have eggs, flour and all kinds of sugars, oil and lemon juice all the ingredients from scratch on a small version of it 😢.

I think it would have only been a fair cake battle if all cakes were decorated the same. You made it way to easy for the judges to tell the difference.
