My Day in Detail.
Let me take you through one of my most productive days to show you exactly how I apply these strategies.
First Ride
I picked up Patrick near my house for a $10 fare to the DMV in Pomona. Just as I was about to hit the freeway towards Ontario Airport (knowing there are plenty of early flights at 7:00 AM), I received a $15 ride request. Even though Patrick was still in the car, I accepted it because it would take me right by Ontario Airport. The ride involved a 15-mile, 20-minute trip to pick up the next passenger and then a quick 10-minute, 3-mile drop-off at the airport. Unfortunately, the passenger canceled because I was too far away and still had a rider, but it was worth a shot for the potential rematch at the airport.
Second Ride
I picked up Alexis, which turned out to be a package delivery for $24. The 28-mile, 33-minute trip was unique because Alexis texted me saying she'd toss the package from her window due to her gate malfunctioning. It was an interesting experience!
Third Ride
Fatima booked a Comfort ride for $18. She was a 5.0-rated passenger needing a 20-mile, 32-minute trip to LAX Airport. I took it because rides to the airport often lead to lucrative rematches and tips. Fatima forgot her cell phone, so I went back to return it. Uber didn't pay extra for this, but Fatima tipped me $8 for the effort.
By the end of the day, I had earned $435 and driven 207 miles. For the week, my total earnings were $2,125—$1,700 from the Uber app and $425 from private rides.
