Of course he will always choose you over his buddies. He KNOWS what you have given him, always remember that. He's smart enough to recognize your car - let that sink in for a moment. He knows what you took him away from and he is grateful. Plus, he is looking forward to meeting his new brother or sister when the time comes. Rescue animals know what they have been given, they just need the time to realize and understand that "this place and this person" is different than what they came from. Enjoy the fruits of your labor.

My friend adopted a horse from a rescue. He was called "Chase" because nobody could catch him, he just didnt want to have anything to do with humans. 8 years later they are inseparable and compete in dressage.

Patience and the right person for what that horse needed make all the difference. You were Rudnik's magic ingredient, just as he was for you.
