Hands on Look at the Hasselblad CFV II 50C (and X1D II 50C)

Hasselblad recently invited me to their launch event in London for their new X1D II 50C and the CFV II 50C with the 907 X. Although the X1D II 50C is not a huge upgrade it does provide some very welcome new features. On the other hand, the CFV II looks to be an incredible new back with a huge degree of potential. This back opens so many doors for Hasselblad and I can't wait to see what this means for the future.

Love this camera . It’s so so easy to use. Great pics, love hassy free phocus software for post . The 80mm x lens is a must .

I guess that's the one every Hassy 500 users are waiting for. Good they were able to hide the battery inside. May i just ask if you can rotate the back to portrait format. I have a 503CW with PME 90 prism finder. With my Sinar e-motion digital back, I can maximize shooting portrait without cropping by rotating the back from landscape format to portrait, just like the Mamiya RZ 67 film back..

This is GREAT! I inherited an extensive Hasselblad kit when my commercial photographer father passed away and I would just love to be able to use it all in a digital mode! Maybe I'll be able to afford a used one some day.

So is the Hasselblad CFV II 50C in combination with the 907X a manual or auto focus camera?

Do you think they will make a external EVF for the CFV / 907X? Also it would be great to mount the flash on that EVF.

Would anyone help settle my expectations excitement and as well anxiety about the new back. Please tell me that the back will not be 10 grand. I'm looking to add this back to my 501 to shoot headshots( yes I'm into the retro as I still shoot film) but this Is just a fun question, but would love to know what others think- thanks

So...How do we shot portraits with CFV II 50C?

It's best camera for imac pro user to put it on the computer desk and take a picture with phone for Instagram, previous version was more in photo than taking photo with it

Any idea what the price may be the cost of the 907 X, is it going to be nearer to $2000 or $5000? Nice to see Hasselblad asserting themselves in this now dynamic camera market.

While the CFVII looks very interesting and versatile, it has the same old problem 645 cameras used to have: how to easily shoot in portrait orientation. Handles, heavy prism finders--all very clunky. And with this CFVII, I don't see how'd you do it at all, as you can't even put a prism finder on it. But hopefully I'm wrong about that.

Is the CFV II works on 203FE without any modification this time??

The CFV - for all clarity: a back matching the old V series bodies, the lens from the X1D and a new body that is (almost) just an adapter between between the digital back and the lens. I guess the lens takes its juice from the battery in the new back and so old digital backs will not make the lens work.
It seemed from photos that this digital back has a larger sensor than the X1D and the new X1D-lens-to-V-back body crops the sensor physically. That may be an illusion, though. Still, question is if the back has a crop factor to the old V series lenses/bodies.

you can now pre-order it on BH Photo, the price is 7.500 USD. man, that's a piece of art.

Hi! It’s been a long time since I’ve written. While I love the form of the X1D the CFV is a very nostalgic form as a former 500 C/M shooter; however, until the two cameras are 100mp my D850 will be sufficient. I am intrigued and can’t wait to handle the CFV in October at the PDN Photo Expo in New York. I feel as if the X1D is, ergonomically speaking, the best camera I’ve ever handled. So it’s a hurry up and wait sort of situation. Thanks! Wish Phase One would bring to market a competitive in form, function and price camera. Their cameras are intriguing, loaded with interesting features, and very far beyond my financial capabilities.
