I visited the world's narrowest city: 200,000 people live here

Hello everyone! Today, I visited Yanjin County in Yunnan, China. This county, nestled along the river, borders Sichuan and is a key passageway from Yunnan to Sichuan. Every day, a train departs from here to Sichuan, providing convenient transportation for local villagers and students who travel for work or school.

The entire town is built along the riverbanks, forming a narrow strip that almost appears as a straight line from a distance. Due to the limited geographical space, most buildings here are stilt houses (吊脚楼), earning Yanjin the nickname of "the narrowest county."

It's 7am. The street lights are still lit. The rooster is crowing very loudly. Many birds can be heard singing. Sounds loud, but nice.
The honking vehicles don't sound good, and are louder.
This town needs two or three central markets. The waterway is convenient and pleasant local transportation??

WOW! Amazing place. For anyone to say you can never build much there, it’s bordered by mountains on both sides, a river runs through and is just too narrow. The jokes on you!

Trusting the ground in rain storm or after one is iffy at best..All the cities infrastructure will be in that river in sort order in the maunsune

Sehr interessant und auch spektakulär. Aber auch ein wenig "vorne hui, hinten pfui". Ich möchte hier aber nicht leben, da nicht schwindelfrei ! Auch kein bißchen Grün in der Stadt und sieht heruntergekommen aus von der Flußseite.... und wer weiß, was in dieser braunen Brühe von Fluß noch alles so rumschwimmt.

i remember seeing pics online years back where the water was all clear and blue and all the buildings looked clean and well kept with neon lights... i knew it was fake and had to look it up and well i was right.

I could not live there, because I couldn't allow myself to live in a structural Russian Roullet, the city on the side of the mountain could be subject to a landslide, definitely not a very safe place to live. I would have many questions about this area, before I would even consider staying there for any length of time, like, how solid are those mountain sides? Could they be prone to landslide? How much care did the engineers take to ensure these buildings are very structurally sound for being, not only on a mountain side, but so close to a river.
