If equipped, your Stow ‘N Place roof rack allows you the option to free up some interior space by transporting your luggage or other accessories on top of your vehicle.

Before placing any cargo onto the roof rack, you’ll have to deploy the crossbars, which are stowed in the roof rack side rails. To remove them, start on one side of the vehicle by loosening the thumb screws at each end, and then lifting the crossbar from the rail. Now, bend the support at each end, and set the crossbar aside while you repeat these steps on the opposite side of the vehicle.

Once both crossbars have been removed, position them perpendicular to the side rails, making sure the letters match up. Once in place, tighten all the thumbs screws completely. If you want to put the crossbars back into the stowed position, just repeat these steps in reverse.

Once your crossbars are deployed and fully secured, you can install an optional luggage carrier, bike rack or other accessory, as long as it’s compatible – and approved for use with your vehicle.

When loading cargo, make sure to distribute the weight evenly – and never exceed the maximum weight limit of your roof rack system, which is normally 150 lbs. or 68 kg. It’s also worth noting that the roof rack does not increase the total load carrying capacity of the vehicle, so be mindful of everything you’re transporting, both outside and in.

A couple of things to keep in mind: if your vehicle is equipped with a sunroof or any other type of retractable roof system, be sure to keep it closed with using your roof rack. Any cargo transported should be securely tied down before driving… and, do not attempt to carry any loads on top of your vehicle without the crossbars installed, or you could damage the roof.

Add to the enjoyment of your next road trip, by reclaiming some interior space… and letting your roof rack, carry some of the weight.

Question: Only thing that worries me about cross bar is that someone cans unscrew them take whatever is on your roof. The crossbar has no locking mechanism. Even if your Thule ski holder does they can still carry everything way. Or am I way off base here?

After you've installed the crossbars, there are numerous exposed holes. Is it okay to leave those exposed, or should they be plugged up somehow?

Hi, can you tell me if there are more options regarding the Stow 'N Place roof rack system? The racks are rated at 155 lbs and the roof top tents I've been looking to put on top need at least 165 lbs. Thanks.
