The string puller sounds like a menace to society

I was taught to tie one end to a large paperclip and patiently use that to "worm-crawl' the string back through.

I thought that they laid the string down before the clothing was sewn around it, and then they would fold the clothing over the string and sewn it into place. That made the most sense to me.

I am that guy with a lot of patience when it comes to my shorts' and pants' strings coming out.

that’s why i started tying knots at each end of the drawstring

We would fix the strings by taking an old wire hanger and bending a loop on the end. Essentially worked like the device at the start

That “do not worry I found it” immediately answered my question

I use a long crochet hook with an eye( like a darning needle). On the end, i thread the cord through the eye and push the crochet hook through the hood/ wasteband It's really handy for putting elastic in jeans and skirts, too.

I sew clothes and the way I get a piece of elastic into the waistband is by using a safety pin. I hook the elastic onto the safety pin and feed it through the waistband all the way around until it reaches the beginning again, then I sew the beginning and end of the elastic together and then sew the waistband closed. It’s cheaper to buy safety pins than this.

You can also use this method with string. Just hook the string onto the safety pin and do the same thing. It’s just that it’s sometimes harder to sew string. I take the string out of all pants with string and replace it with elastic. I measure my waist and cut a piece of skinny 3mm/0.11” elastic the size of my waist. The elastic width is skinny and narrow but not as skinny and narrow as a string, plus since it’s elastic it stretches and, in my opinion, that makes it better than string. Elastic is super cheap in the sewing section of Walmart

Learned this in 88’…wire hangers have other uses besides hangin clothes. Take the paper pole off…use the hooks for the plastic tip or knot, twist it so it can loop around…about 5-6 mins for a 9 yr old

In one of my sewing classes, I learned how to do that, by using a safety pin. you pin the safety pin onto one end of one of the string, and work it through the tube. I hope this helps!

My husband will always get the string 😆 he's so patient and good at it. 😅

We would just put a safety pin on one end of the string and bunch up the fabric in front of it and straighten it out behind it until we'd worked it out the other end.

attach a safety pin to the end (one thats just smaller then then hole). then push it though, bunhcing the material as you go. every now and then stop, hold the pin and material and unbunch. like magic the string threads though. Hardest part is when the tunnel the string needs to go through has joints or extra material but with persistance, you get the safety pin all the way around. Note - key thing - close the safety pin

I just hold the string and push the band down over it, occasionally pausing to straighten the ruffels out over the string towards the tail end

Most sewing stores and a lot of craft stores that have a sewing section will have a drawstring tool available. No fancy automatic pull-through - just a long plastic stick with a loop at the end - but that's fine for the average person. They're generally pretty cheap.
