In the 70's, we just didn't allow the male pollen to reach the flower . The flowers were harvested when the trichombs covered the flowers like a frost .

I grew some triploids a few months ago and I didn't see any of these advantages. Some strains produce more, some less and I've definitely grown stronger weed

One of the major arguments for legalization of weed is that it is ALL NATURAL! Nobody wants GMO weed! Get back to its natural state!

This is incorrect : Polyploidy doesn’t feminise plants it simply means that with additional chromosomes the branching structure generally involves more than the usual nodal pairs (ie 3s, 4s etc) and can also promote extra flowering sites eg. directly on leaves or inter-nodal stem areas resulting in denser and often more vigorous plants. It also does not guarantee increased potency. There is also a LOT of misinformation about Colchicine treatment, the most obvious being that 1st gen plants are toxic, must only be used for seed production and never consumed themselves.

So instead of planting a seed, the grow company has to employ the science department that can produce the triploid, and those scientists will require extra money, probably a lot of money extra.

I've been growing for over 2 decades. I just started some Orange Runtz and Zookies triploids. We shall see if they are worth the hype. I'm a breeder, and I'll definitely be keeping a bunch of diploids breeding though. I believe cannabis should be capable of seed production, but, high potency and yield are great too. We can have both!
