To get comfortable within Maya 2015 we will start with taking a look at the user interface. The Maya user interface can be quite intimidating to a completely new user. It is however a very intuitive and easy to use 3d package. All of the tools and functions within Maya are easily accessible and once having had some experience with Maya's user interface most 3d modelers grow to love it. Just about all the tools that are commonly used are immediately accessible. As with any complex 3d package it does take a bit of time to get comfortable within Maya but the rewards are well worth it. Maya is the industry standard 3d package for video game development and is very much considered a required skill set for any individual entering the field.

This course introduction will give a brief overview of what we will be doing throughout the series. We will also take a quick broad look over the user interface and cover the basic layout. It's usually a good idea to take one step at a time when learning a 3d package such as Maya, starting with understanding the user interface. As with any course introduction, this video will be very basic and primarily informative. It is a good idea however to have your Maya application open so that you can inspect each element within the user interface as it is covered. This will help to concrete your understanding of the layout and begin to give you a strong foothold on where everything is located.

Very cool! Not sure if you have every tried Blender but, i tossed around with it for a little while just as the first 3D Rendering program I researched about that was obviously free to use. After teaching myself a little bit of the program I actually decided to go into animation and got into CSU Fullerton for this spring semester. Turns out, they use Maya. I was a bit bummed but, after stumbling across your channel and watching this video I feel really excited for Maya and what it has to offer! Thanks so much, I love your presentation style and I will continue to watch these videos and learn as much as I can before the semester starts and since I like you channel so much the least I can keep doing is letting all of your ads play all the way through :) Thanks again!
