I think it was also a strategy by SRH to announce retention early. Since they got to pay klansen such a hug amount, and after knowing this every top player will negotiate more money from their teams knowing klansen is getting 23 cr. SRH thinking if we had to pay 23 cr lets put others team in the same page. Very smart move..!

Giving Klaasen 23 crore is a bold statement and rightly so. After money disputes with Rashid the very next season after falling out with Warner and releasing Kane the very next season as well, its nice to see their star player get his dues. Klaasen is our best player over Head or Abhishek or Cummins

23 cr is too much. My choice of retention would be: Cummins (18cr), Abhishek (14cr) Nitish Reddy (11cr), Klaasen (18cr), Head (14 cr) and uncapped Abdul Samad (4cr).
