The ESPN FC panel reacts to FIFA announcing that Vinicius Junior will lead an anti-racism committee, as Shaka Hislop raises concerns he has while reviewing a task force that FIFA set up in 2013.

I think it's worse than that, Infantino is turning to Vinicius and saying "Oh you think racism is bad, eh?, fine, you solve it" and now whatever happens it will be on Vinicius, not on him.
And also putting an even bigger target on Vinicius from here on.

It makes absolutely no sense for the committee to consist entirely of active players. I get wanting active players involved on some level as the issue affects them most of all and it's about creating the best conditions for them, but like Shaka said, if this work is to be taken seriously it requires way more time and effort than any active player can devote to it. Also, I love Vinicius but he is very young. Would definitely like to see someone a bit older and more experienced leading the committee.

Shaka on the money as per usual. Fifa is beyond disappointing with their efforts to combat racism.

This is ridiculous. A player should be focused on playing not centuries of anti-Black bigotry in these countries. It’s not just Vinicius Jr it’s the culture obviously and they don’t know how not to be anti-Black bigots.

?!?!?! Vini as the leader, why, can't they freaking make a committee by themselves. It is absolutely ridiculous. If I get robbed that doesn't mean they should hire me as a cop from my own job.

There so many retired players who can lead this committee, Shaka is right, they're just bluffing us.

We need to stop asking the victim to solve the problem, and by "we" I don't actually mean "we"; I mean the people in power

It's a mystifying decision, but i am interested to see how FIFA tries to worm out of the rightfully harsh punishments this committee will invariably suggest be passed into the rulebook.

Were they to suggest something like (for example) yellow and red cards for crowds that work like cards for players but bring a suspensions in the form of a closed stadium, that would possibly be effective by hitting clubs in their pockets, but do we think FIFA would actually implement something strict like that? No, I just can't see it.

So basically what the la Liga president said about him asking vini to come meet him and tell him what to do still stands. He is just following up on that stupid statement by appointing him to be part of this committee. And guess what this is going to force vini to join it..he can't reject it. Cause if he rejects it saying that he isn't qualified for this (rightly so) he will be called as running away from it. And that's just sad. That's just put him in a bad corner

Vini would get setup if he was to be part of this committee.

A white person will never know what it will feel like to get discriminated against.

Rashford scored 30 goals for a injury ridden United side and he’s not even a striker. Of course people only talk about Haaland and Kane scoring goals. They tell him to “focus on football” after he carried us this past season. It runs deeper than hurling insults or verbal abuse. Society has a unconscious bias problem

We need Thierry Henry and Shaka Hislop on the case.

Agree with Shaka. Put John Barnes in charge of it. Barnes experienced it in some of the worst ways.

Shaka to chair it! Love seeing his passion knowledge and maturity on this topic compared to his normal fun and jovial personality

Yeah same concerns regarding an active player managing it

Of course they had to add lgbtq on the show. It's two different topics. Stop trying to minimize racism ESPN

Should include ex players...with current players raising their concerns and give

Putting it on a current young is also a victi of said like pushing the responsibilities around.

They should dock 10 point from the team who's fan/s is chanting or committing this act, and I know an opposing fan can try to disguise themselves to make that team lose points but this will only happen when an investigation has been done and the culprits has been identified properly
