Back in March when this video came out I originally wanted to do a lesson on the bridge "octopus" groove but Austin Burcham beat me to it and made a great lesson on that part.

About two months ago I decided to start working on the drum breaks/drum solos that occur three times throughout the song. In this lesson I dive into the details of the fill that happens at 3 minutes and 28 seconds into the live version.

We get such a good glimpse into Danny's playing in this video and we can really see note for note his choices in the moment. This is profound for someone like me who has been a huge Danny Carey fan since 2004.

I am not 100% sure but I feel like these fills are improv and that he probably does something different every night on tour. If you compare these fills to the ones on the record you will hear similar vocabulary but none of the same fill choices.
