Toyota Matrix owner here. I bought a 2008 back in 2012 and this car has been fantastic. One of the best purchases I have ever made. It now has over 200, 000 km on it and I still see no reason to part with it.

I bought a high mile Mazda3 a couple years back and that has been bullet proof.
If you're gonna get into used cars then a great vid would be how to tell city miles versus highway miles.
Mine had grill chips, dead bugs in the radiator fins, no carpet wear (by the pedals), non worn corner of the seats, slightly worn seat belts and steering wheel.

Bought a 2020 Honda Fit with 7000 miles two years ago. It now has 18000. Plan to keep it forever. Awesome car.

Thank you. Couldn’t agree more with your choices of Toyotas. I still own an 18 year old Echo that besides for some rust, still runs like a clock 👍

I have a first Gen Vibe that I bought with 207k miles! Put 6k miles on it and no issues so far! Fully depreciated and don't have to worry if the car gets dings or dents!

It is a great list of used but extremely reliable cars over the past 15 years. As usual, the author knows the list really well, and his recommendation is spot on! Thank you for your guidance!

Exactly right advice. You buy a slice of a car's life. A good car lasts 20 years in good condition, an average car 15....however few cars are priced at 20k new which is a grand a year.

Buying early to mid life is the sweet spot. The new car driver is always overpaying for their 3 to 5 years in a car. The banger buyer is always dealing with a car in a nursing home.

If you can get a 4 to 8 year old car with one owner for $9k and get 9 years good service....you win the car lottery.

My Honda Accord 2004 is now at 300k miles, I bought it 7 years ago for $4k . I can sell it now for same price .

06 Yaris owner here with 415km just had some service and repairs done potentially for last time, will just look at fluids going ahead, probably will try to push it till 450 or 2026 (if it holds) but purchased it used and couldn’t have been happier.

As a 2012 Honda civic owner, I approve. Even my brother has the same model and year, 170k (mines) and 120k miles

I can remember my dad being shocked when the neighbors bought a brand new 1966 Olds Ninety Eight four door with AC, power everything and an AM-FM stereo. He couldn't believe they paid $4, 700 (US).

And now $10, 000 won't buy any new car, at least in North America.

Yep Pontiac Vibe is a great one. Had a 2005 5 years ago and gave it to my son in law who's car died. He still has it and approaching 200, 000 miles. In the meantime I bought a new at the time 2017 Corolla IM which I still have and love. Even my wife has a Corolla.

I’m glad you included the matrix/vibe. Any plans to do a similar video for most reliable used top 10 SUV’s under $12-15, 000? As always, another great video! Thank you.

I own a 2005 Toyota matrix we bought it with 50, 000 miles and now has 260, 000 miles and continues to run strong in clean. Definitely a great car oil, tires and brakes, just maintenance

Great list. I've notice vibe prices have crept up over the years since it's become common knowledge that its sister model was the matrix. Factoring for age, it might be more difficult to source trim parts (apart from aftermarket) for it.
