I've always loved her voice! A few tears were shed when she passed away much too soon.

I had the pleasure of seeing Laura twice in concert. First in 1988 at the Oakdale Theater in Wallingford, CT, and then at CBGBs in New York City of all places in 2002, perhaps one of her last live shows. She was even more powerful in person. Also her 1990 cover of "Moonlight On Water" was absolutely mesmerizing. Such a talent, gone way too soon. :)

Laura's version was recorded in 1987 off her album Touch. This is how it's done.

Laura was indeed a wonderful vocalist taken from us way too young. I'm guessing this amazing performance was from the '80's, before 'Auto-Tune' was introduced and if so, it makes this performance even more incredible, although I have to admit, Jennifer Rush's original is also quite stunning.

Even though Jennifer Rush wrote and recorded it first, I've always considered this to be Laura's song. No one else's.

One of the best voices in pop music. She died way too soon.

I “missed” Jennifer in her prime—in fact, I only discovered her 2 months ago. I am a big fan of Celine and only discovered Jennifer because I came across Celine’s cover of POL including Jennifer. I couldn’t believe my ears.
I’m 84 and have heard them all, from Ginger Rogers to Edith Piaf to Vera Lynn. Then Diana Ross, Aretha Franklin, Barbara Streisand, Dusty Springfield, Tammy Wynette, and Bonnie Tyler. Add Gloria Gaynor, Connie Francis, Laura Branigan, Linda Ronstadt, Rita Coolidge, Celine, Mariah, and Whitney and you have the lineup of the greats right up to Adele and Susan Boyle. But, Jennifer Rush has the all-around best female voice I have ever heard. Her operatic training adds an unmatched vibrato containing depth and texture. And she sings everything: opera, pop, rock, and ballads in English, Spanish, German, and Hungarian. She has written or co-written the lyrics and music for many of her songs, done duets with Placido Domingo and Jose Carreras, Elton John, and Brian May—sorry—Sir Brian May—and performed live all over the world—but not in America, except in March and April 1986 on the Carson show and the Dick Clark Show; that’s it.
Yes. If Jennifer had decided to live her life in the US, she would still be in Las Vegas or on tour.
It would be great if you reacted to 3 more of my favorites: “Who
Wants to Live Forever?”, “Hero of a Fool”, and “Stronghold”.

Jennifer Rush wrote this song, and the video of her performing it is outstanding. Maybe you could watch her version also? Laura has a great voice, and does this song well. Great reaction. ✌️

Bit late to the party, but when you say we didn’t get much from her I am a bit staggered. She had a string of hits here in the USA and she had five or six albums to her name, maybe more.
