Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says in an interview with AFP that US President Biden must show he is serious and committed to re-engaging the US in the fight against climate change, ahead of a virtual climate summit hosted by Biden on April 22 for Earth Day.

Countries that invest heavily in wind turbines, solar voltaic, batteries and pumped storage (Germany, Australia) see no particular reduction in emissions . Doing nothing and letting coal get replaced by natural gas, for no other reason than it happens to be much cheaper, does reduce emissions drastically. Nuclear energy has no emission, except during construction. Gas is also good because takes less time for both a warm-start or cold-start, gas is more flexible. But make no mistake, we need heat, and if gas is not in your neighborhood and electricity is generated by coal, how else are you going to stay warm, but by burning home heating fuel? We are going to start burning less to keep warm because it's heavily taxed? I don't get it.
