This video is about the expression of time "by the time." Frequently misused, this expression can be used for a past, present or future action, meaning "at some point before." By the time is followed by a clause with a relative time that specifies an end or completion time. Students tend to confuse it with other expressions that have similar meanings.
This lesson is for elementary students who wish to study or review English grammar and vocabulary and for students who reached an advanced level but who wish to brush up on some grammar rules.

@1:58 is that structure always true? what if say: "I was very tired by the time I finished my work". Here, we are not using past perfect. according to your structure, it should have been said like this: "I had been very tired by the time I finished my work". Let me know your opinion please.

I have a question. How to say that By the 2020 .... something will be invented for example . I don 't know how i shoul build the sentence. I want to say that by X year something will change or happen . Please tell me how .
