Craig, I had this very situation recently. I gave up alcohol l Dec 2021 but a couple of weeks ago I had to take my dog to the vet in an emergency, she swallowed a bee and had a nasty allergic reaction and her whole face swelled up, she looked like a char-pei!! This was on a Friday night, back int the day there is no way I would have been fit to take her. It makes me shudder what I would have done, phone a relative, get an uber cab, good luck with that asking to convey a sick dog. It's a powerful message, thank you for raising it.

I've though about this many a night as I sit here with a hangover like a moron. I just drove an hour and a half to take my kids to school, I shouldn't even be driving, I'm not sharp at all. Drinking has made me a person that no-one wants to do with. Its a very sad thing that I have done to myself.So thats it I quit drinking!

I bet this scenario has happened MYRIAD times in society.
Having been a Police Officer for 10 years, I have arrived at MANY tragic auto accidents. No doubt the fairly vast majority had alcohol as the cause.
Yet there have been times when I drove "under the influence" myself. (In later years, that is. I rarely drank in the years I was a P.O..)
What's the moral? ALCOHOL MAKES ONE STUPID!

yeah you tend to become more unreliable...especially like unexpected hangover days when you really cant get up... because youre literally almost dying.... and then you text your boss that you will be coming the next day..with the result that you again couldnt keep your promise and you call in sick again...because you are literally again ...almost dying. And I mean it...last time I even was still drunk and couldnt walk straight, I smelled the liquor on myself and was sick in the yet again I drank....I guess that erases those little brownie points..
