It will be warm during cold weather.
But, to make it even warmer, I like to line my cardigans with a warm material. Do it, basically, the same as you'd line a purse. Use the finished cardigan as a pattern. Sew the front pieces to the back, then the sleeves, then sew up the sides. Hem the edges all around, and sew into the cardigan. This adds more warmth and helps block some of the wind.
