My theory about flying carpets: the carpet is thinking that the first carpet were actually a full block so its magically flying and not like snow

I'll explain the anvils,
Starting from anvil number 2, the anvils will stack up without touching the villager as the villager is only 2 blocks/anvils tall
Edit: due to the low falling height and speed, the gravitational potential energy and damage is reduced and thus the villager can survive two anvils
