Property prices across the country have risen for the second straight month in a sign the housing market's slowdown has come to an end.

The latest data by CoreLogic found home prices nationwide were up half a percent in April.

The largest increase was in Sydney - where prices rose 1.3 per cent, followed by Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.

Rising house prices and labour want lower rents. Don't work that way Albo.

Then another interest rate rise is more likely.

....with 300, 000 migrant workers on the way, those already here, acute homelessness, rental shortages....inevitable.

the ONLY good new about house prices is when they announce a 50% fall! or crash

Property prices will continue to crash astronomically so i do not believe this hype for one monent. The idea is to prevent people owning huge real estate portfolios and profiting so much from this industry. Housing has to become affordable for all and it will crash, as will the sharemarket and the fed.

You folks in Australia seem to be continuing to try the same "backdoor" approach to phasing in the quantitative easing (QE) reality that the United (Mafia) States has been trying for the last fourteen years, with such economic measures as your fuel price limits and your two-year rent price moratorium and you are to be commended for your QE efforts. However, with the other price increases that are greed/avarice based, such as property price increases, which cause inflation which inflation factor is what you are trying desperately to avoid as you slowly introduce the QE reality seems to be tossing a monkey wrench in the works, so to speak. The real solution is to do the thus far unthinkable which is for the West to ban together and openly acknowledge the reality of quantitative easing as well as explain exactly how and why QE works and then to collectively enact a ten-year moratorium on all price increases relating to essential consumer goods, products and services in order to give everyone a chance to acclimate to the QE reality and to work out the kinks.
The entire explanatory narrative on how and why quantitative easing works is called Equity Spending (YouTube, video 9) or ES, not to be confused with the more politically correct, Left leaning, in my opinion, inferior MMT explanatory narrative on QE spending. (Revised 2nd Edition) "All About Equity Spending... With a Love Story". Reviews are available on Amazon books and any walk-in bookstore can order this literary treasure. P.O.O.F.O.O.S.I.E.

It HAS to crash eventually. Its a terrifying idea, not just because no one wants to have their house ripped out from underneath them but because how our entire economy is completely pinned on the housing market as the centrepiece to everything. That's the Australian economy in a nutshell - we produce nothing of significance anymore, we just dig up our resources and flog them off as cheaply as possible, we made the housing market the centerpiece of all personal wealth and stability and we rely on flooding the joint with immigrants to prop up the gdp stats and then pretend that the gdp stats are the only metric that is worth measuring on. If and when the housing market crashes here, its not just people losing their house and then a per capita recession to follow - its a freaking wipeout that will take every single last one of us, down with it. Even if you don't own a home. The enormity of this issue should be keeping everyone up at night, irrespective of whether you own housing.
