I had a very angry father growing up and developed passive coping mechanisms as a way to protect myself. It’s no surprise I ended up in an abusive relationship later on that stole my voice from me even further. I was afraid of him but mostly I think I was afraid of becoming a volatile person like my dad. So afraid to be angry and stand up for myself. But anger saved me in the sense it became that voice inside of me screaming that I never deserved to be treated this way. To feel every emotion and use my voice again. Anger gave me action. The strength to finally say NO. To go to to school, to go to therapy and allow myself to feel every emotion and know it’s okay.
