The 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan 162TSI Highline has all the makings of a proper sports model, but without a catchy name. Should it be called the Tiguan GTI? James takes a closer look.

I really thought the door screeched when he opened it on 00:55 in the video. But it was just the background music. 😂

Nice video, I've been waiting on some impressions on this version as I haven't been able to get my hands on one yet. In NZ it comes fully loaded with a gruntier stereo and a sky roof as the only options, its known as the Tiguan R-Line as none of the other versions of the car are available with the R-Line body kit. Believe it or not if you want your Tiggy with a few of the nicer creature comforts it's easily the best value proposition here

Never really thought of the Aussies for car reviews but these guys are brilliant.

Nice review there, James Ward & the CarAdvice team. I'd be real keen on a review of the 132TSI (or equivalent, whatever that version is now called in the 2017 Tiggy line-up); just a notch down from the 162TSI. I'd venture that the 2L turbocharged beaut of an engine is better suited to the hot hatch such as the Golf R and i might want to venture for a more middling ground for the family SUV with the 132TSI equivalent version of the Tiggy.

Thanks for the review.
But, there is no information about fuel consumption and off road capabilities.

Hey CarAdvice, Im keen to know how the DSG is around side streets & the city. My concern is the shuddering with the DSG and the lag when driving and you then plant the foot (as it is in a high gear). Would love to know your thoughts before I buy!

Add a stage 1 tune and it wakes up this car big time... it's a no brainer and puts it on par with the very top performing SUVs
